The Blog Bog

The Mag Rack

The PORTAL (for Paul)
***************************

I dreamt

I took your daughter Charlotte
through a website

and wound up on 2nd and Bowery
at the door of the Tin Palace
where Skip and Tiny 2 men I used to know
at a different club
let us inside

it was the 70's

and we were there

watching a show from long ago

fantastic jazz
in a room full of excited people

when we walked out the door
I turned around and asked Skip

can I come back

and he said yes

7 Steps To Heaven

in my dreams     I go to places

that I have been

but they are altered

different rooms are added on to old apartments

events occur that did not happen

but here

tonight

in New York City

the sound of young Miles Davis floats across my room

with a dance of

all

those
gone things

a black plastic bag

blown by the wind

looking like a small demented cat

         scurries across 2nd Avenue

in front of the passing cars

used to be
hot
and didn't know

it was a riff

a beautiful line

you had to be inside of

can be a slap

that resonates forever

but I still talk to your memory
